THE LATEST

Sumner Village is rising from the rubble of the recent earthquake in February.
Most of our shops, cafes and bars are now open and the heartbeat has returned to our lovely village.

The Cornershop Bistro swung its doors open in March and we are thrilled to have been able to carry on trading and keep busy.

Reservations are recommended throughout the Summer.
We look forward to seeing you soon.

Rod, Kath and the Bistro team.

What they are Saying...

"My ultimate favourite. A short drive from Christchurch is Sumner, a pretty beachside town. This gem of place serves a French influenced menu that is very well priced and superbly cooked. If you visit Christchurch only for one night- eat here!"

"I've been here for both brunch and dinner, both were excellent, but dinner really excelled. The atmosphere at night is so lovely, it's quite a small, intimate place with lots of little twinkling nightlights and cheerful staff. It's very romantic but also lively enough to go with a group of friends. The menu is compact, but inventive and delicious."

"The place was steadily busy, with a range of people coming in, some for meals and some for coffees, but service to all seemed efficient and quietly happening, which is the way it should be. We enjoyed our two and half hours there immensely, and will definitely be back."

Richard Till is relieved he's paying for this meal at the Cornershop Bistro and not some fancy decor. "The menu is packed with all the things you'd hope to find at a resturant with bistro in the name... terrines coq au vin..."
